Right now, the world is changing. There are so many ways to make a beneficial impact and that includes shopping sustainably. That looks like a few different things and everyone has their own opinion on what is sustainable and what isn’t. For me, this includes thrifting, sustainable brands and if I can’t find what I need in those avenues I will shop something that is of great quality and will last me a long time.
In high school and up until a year or so ago, if I needed anything for activewear, I wouldn’t buy anything but Lululemon. I had heard some things about owner, but being the best person, but the quality was great and it was easy to access, so that was my go-to. Over the past year, I have heard more about the owner, and I don’t like his ideals or the ethics of the company. I had been looking for new activewear brands that were sustainable and aligned with my personal shopping values. The pants also have seams down the front and I am moving away from pants like that.
I came across Girlfriend Collective, which is a Seattle Local company that is very size-inclusive and makes their clothing out of recycled waterbottles. I also came across We are Tala, a UK brand that unthreads old material and makes their clothing and also uses recycled water bottles for some products.
I picked up shorts and a sports bra from Tala and a Unitard from Girlfriend. Watch my youtube video to see my thoughts!
