Toners are a step-in skincare that are easily skipped over but make a world of a difference. They help other products sink in to the skin and help them spread over the face. This may not seem like much, but it cuts down the amount of product you have to use by almost half and that saves you a lot of dough. Toners can cater to many different needs ranging from hydrating to exfoliating to acne fighting. Not only do they do ALL that, but they also balance your pH after cleansing. To me, this is why it’s called toning. If I am doing my skincare routine I tone after I cleanse and before I go on to the rest of my regimen. I also tone throughout the day if I feel like I need a refresh. Bottom line is toner is life and you can never tone too much! Unless it is an exfoliating toner, please don’t overdo it with chemical exfoliators!
Little Barn Apothecary has created a hidden gem in a sea of toners. The Bamboo + Fresh Mint Clearing mist is my ultimate toner pick. It is hydrating as well as acne fighting and to top it off it smells so good you won’t want to stop spraying it. Let me give you a run down of the ingredient list.
Aloe Vera Juice*: anti-inflammatory, hydrating, helps with redness and discoloration, acne fighting
Bamboo Extract**: packed with anti-oxidants, acne fighting, anti-aging, packed with silica. Silica helps maintain elasticity in the skin because collagen is mostly made up of Silica. Collagen is the main component keeping your skin from sagging.
Witch Hazel*: anti-inflammatory, astringent, moisturizer, helps treat sunburn
Licorice Root*: helps sooth eczema, rosacea, etc., fade dark spots, anti-oxidants help fight free radicals. Licohalcone helps regulate oil production, which makes it a great anti-acne.
Leuconostoc (radish root ferment filtrate): antimicrobial. This helps with preserving the product.
Spearmint Oil**: anti-bacterial, uplifting scent
eucalyptus oil*: fresh aroma, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory
* = Organic ** = Sustainably wild harvested
This combination of ingredients is heavenly. The point of a toner is not to smell good, but when it does it, it adds an element of relaxation and self-care that’s really nice. I bought the 2 oz travel sized bottle for $16.00 and it lasted me a couple months alternating it with other toners. I had been out of it for a while and when Black Friday rolled around I decided to snag a full-sized version. The full-sized version is 4 oz and it costs $32.00.
I love companies that ethically source their ingredients and care where ingredients come from. Little Barn Apothecary keeps their products clean and that is something I am thankful for. Good Job Little Barn Apothecary!
