When do you know it is time for a microblading refresher? The main goal for microblading is to keep the skin healthy and keep the strokes crisp.
In order to do that, the microblading from your initial sessions needs to be faded. But to what extent? I like to tell my clients that your brows should look similar to what they looked like after the first session. They should have room to add new strokes so everything can remain crisp.
If we keep adding strokes over pigment that isn’t faded, we will cause the pigment to blur together and that can become muddy. That’s never what we want! The brows should fade around 60 to 70 percent. This way when we add new strokes, everything remains crisp.
Normally refreshers will take place around the 1-year mark, but everyone’s skin retains pigment differently. Depending on the skin, the refresher could be anywhere from 6 months to the 2-year mark.
When trying to figure out if your brows are ready for their refresher, you have a few options! If you are feeling like you may want a refresher, but aren’t sure the pigment has faded enough, you can always make a consultation appointment and we can take a look at your brows and come up with a game plan. If you aren’t wanting to make the trip, you can always send me an email or text with some photos of your brows and we can discuss there!
If we find that you should wait to get your refresher, we can always book you a Henna Brow appointment. Henna will stain your skin for two weeks and your hair will be tinted for about 6 weeks! This is a great option for filling in the areas that are lighter until the refresher. A tinted brow gel is also a great option.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions and I look forward to seeing you at your refresher!
