Like many other beauty trends hitting the United States from Korea, the 7 Skin Method is quickly becoming known as the secret to dehydrated, flaky skin. Korea is the leader of the “glass skin” movement and they do dew better than anyone.
It is no surprise that when people in the United States caught wind of the 7 Skin Method, it spread. Fast. If you aren’t one to pay attention to beauty trends, let me enlighten you. This may sound complicated, but it’s far from it, I promise.
Skin in Korean commonly means toner, so it translates to “7 toner method.” This Method will turn your flaky, lifeless skin into a supple bounce back haven. All you’ll need is a hydrating toner, the cleaner the ingredients the better. I love to use a lavender or rose Hydrosol for this.
You will spray the Hydrosol in your hands a couple times and then you will press that into your face until everything feels absorbed. You will repeat this 7 times. It is that simple. Crazy, I know.
What is this actually doing? The point of this is to layer in hydration. It is extremely important to add an oil-based product after you do this method. The oil acts as a barrier to occlude the water-based products, so the water won’t leave your skin. If the oil isn’t placed as a barrier, the water would evaporate from your skin, leaving you even more dehydrated than before.
It is also important to note that we want to be using a toner, hydrosol, essence that does not contain alcohol or anything exfoliating. This will cause dryness and irritation to the skin. Nobody wants that.
To do this method right, it’s not imperative you do all 7 steps. You can start off doing a few layers and work up to 7 layers.
What I love most about this method is it gives instant results. It gives bounce back to the skin. Think of a trampoline when its tight compared to lose. If a trampoline isn’t pulled tight, there will be no bouncing done, but if it’s set up correctly, people will be bouncing all day long. That is what we want– to bounce all day long. Water allows us to bounce.
You need hydration to set up your skin correctly. Look in the mirror and give your skin a little tap before and after you do the 7 skin method and see if you notice a difference in the bounce back. Hydrated skin will be flake free and give you a supple bounce.
It does not matter if you have oily or dry skin, you can be dehydrated. This is an awesome place to start for people with dehydrated skin. If you are interested in more resourced for hydrating your skin, check out my other blogs on hydration.
